What The Artist Sees

Oils on linen
8" diameter

Maybe a damn work in progress. My wife is mad at me for this change--she liked it as a plain landsacape. But she's starting to like it. She likes the fishing line....Much of this is trial. More laying down of colors without much thought of my typical glazing technique.

The thought: at the start of my work in painting, I'd go every Sunday to the bank of the Wabash River to thow in a line. Nice to catch a fish one in a while. But I was there to think of the past week's work and of future works. If a storm came on of course I got home to my work.

In this picture I'm both the man in the boat in a storm. And I'm the man in the red boat. The canvas edge is a gimmick. I figure why not? Put a square within a round canvas.
